Irish Petty Sessions Court Registers 1828-1912

Hello Everyone,

I decided to do a quick follow up on a prior post I had on Lardners found in the Irish Petty Sessions books (LINK).  The below entries are from court locations going from north to south along Co. Clare's coastline.  I wanted to get a general idea of how some families might have crossed the jurisdiction boarders of different court systems.  You will need to go to FindMyPast to access records online to get further details.

Of particular interest to me specifically is the Pat Lardner of Clounlaheen in bold below.  I have yet to find any Lardner family groups in the Cloonlaheen area that weren't related to me.  And if my research is correct, this individual shouldn't be my 3rd Great Uncle whom I believe emigrated to the the US in 1869.  If that's the case, who is he?  Is it possible that James Lardner Sr's step-son Patrick O'Halloren took on the Lardner name?  Its a question that needs further examination.

GRO Civil Registration Records on IrishGenealogy.ie

Hello Everyone!

Good news! I just discovered that IrishGenealogy.ie currently is housing Civil Registration records for the General Records Office of Ireland.  As of this date they have the following years uploaded:

Births: 1864 to 1915
Marriages: 1882* to 1940
Deaths: 1891* to 1965

Not all indexed entries have an image attached, but if one is available it can be found at the bottom of the individual's entry by clicking on the "image" hyperlink.

The website is continuing to work on bringing online Death and Marriage records back to 1864 and 1845 respectively. Here is the webpage LINK to keep tabs on their progress.

Until Next Time,
Jessica

Ancestry/Fold3 : All UK, Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Admissions and Discharges, 1715-1925

Hello Everyone,

I came across a new database on Ancestry.com that I think might be of some benefit for a few Lardner families: All UK, Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioner Admissions and Discharges, 1715-1925.  The files themselves are housed on a non-Ancestry.com associated website, so if you do not have an Ancestry account you can pay for access to see the records on Fold3.com instead.

Please note, I'm only including pertinent facts, not the entirety of what can be found the records.  In addition, I am also only listing those entries that specifically reference County Clare. If you know your Clare relatives name and regiment, you may be able to find their service information in the registers.  There are several Lardners (and variations of the name) listed, but not all entries provide a place of birth.

Update to my post "Will and Probate Records"

Hello Everyone,

Exciting news!  FamilySearch.org has posted digital images of the Limerick Will Books online and they can be accessed for free!

I've updated my post titled Will and Probate Records with the wills that I could find for the already listed non-Lardner related surnames.  So please take a look to see if entry for one of your family members has a new Probate link attached.

I will be slowly working on putting together a second post with additional surnames associated with the Lardner name, so hopefully that will be posted within a few weeks.

Until Next Time,
Jessica

Lardner name in the "Ireland Dog Licence Registers" on FindMyPast

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to post some information I found on the website FindMyPast.com and their database, "Ireland Dog Licence Registers."  Who knew that this rather banal collection of data could one day be used for genealogy!

Unfortunately, due to constraints of this blog I had to post the info I found in picture format below:

You should be able to click on the image to make it larger and the original records are available on FindMyPast.com.  The individuals listed are:
  • William Lardner of Monmore
  • James Lardner/Larner of Clounlaheen/Powerstown
  • James Larner of Lisheen
  • Miss Lardner/Miss M.E. Lardner/Ellen Lardner of Corofin and Corofin Workhouse
  • Thomas Lardner and Tom Lardner/Larner of Moanmore/Moanmore Lower
  • John Lardner of Knockerry and Knockerra.
James Lardner of Clounlaheen/Powerstown is my direct relation and his dog license registration covers the time periods of 1870-1872 and 1876-1882.  The fact that the standard breed of dog that he licensed is a Sheep dog provides insight into the possible means of subsistence for the family.

Until next time,

Jessica

Breakdown of Family Groups in Eight RC Parishes

Hi Everyone,

Here's the breakdown of eight more parishes for the Lardner surname.  From what I'm finding the name is found in only very specific sections of Co. Clare.

If I've missed anyone, please let me know.

All the Best,
Jessica
